THE FILIPINO ‘angel’ in need of a kidney transplant has returned home. Carolina Ricerra, 26, came to the island in July just before the wedding of her sister, Maria Jackson, when she suffered kidney failure at the start of last month.
With no health insurance, her medical bill soared to more than £6,000. A biopsy to discover the reason for the failure could not be carried out locally so her wish was to be at home.
With such a high bill, friends and family decided to help by holding a raffle and bric-a-brac sale, £3,000 has so far been raised.
Mrs Jackson has returned to The Philippines with her sister, so her close friend Mary de Garis has been helping arrange things in her absence.
