Registry gives a little more time
Wednesday 12th November 2008, 2:30PM GMT.
AN EXTENSION has been granted by the Guernsey Registry for the registration of directors and re-registration of companies.
The previous deadline was 31 October and anyone missing it would have incurred a £100 fine, but the registry has now decided to extend the free period until 30 November.
A spokesman said it felt it was better to allow more time for people and companies to register than to dish out penalties for what constituted a monumental change which individuals would still be getting used to after the introduction of the new companies law in July, which included transferring all company records from an old judicial system to a modern computer and online operation.
‘We anticipate just over 2,000 companies still need to re-register on the system and, therefore, we felt it better to extend the registration period and repeat the media messages rather than charge people to complete their registrations.’
