Sark publication reveals Barclays’ building spend

THE extent of Sir David and Sir Frederick Barclay’s multi-million-pound investment in Sark has been revealed.

The construction industry has received close to £4m. in business over the past 16 months while in excess of £1.8m. has been earned in wages from Sark Development Ltd projects.

There has also been support for new business, with properties let on a ‘turnkey basis’ with all the costs of building refurbishment and furnishings being met by Sark Developments Ltd – a total investment of £1.4m. by the company.

The figures are revealed in the latest edition of Sark News, a publication released with the approval of the Brecqhou owners.

‘The past year has seen many millions of pounds invested into the economy of Sark by Sir David and Sir Frederick Barclay,’ states the publication.
