TWO police officers were commended by the force yesterday evening for their efforts in saving a young couple and their baby from a wave-swamped car at L’Eree.

At the Guernsey Police commendations and awards ceremony at Les Cotils, Sergeant John Tostevin was recognised for his bravery in the extreme weather conditions in March.

Inspector Geoff Chapman’s leadership and bravery in assisting his colleague was also commended.

‘It’s the job we do, and we can’t run away,’ said Sergeant Tostevin. ‘We have to make a decision and act and, while it might be seen by some as bravery, we have to do it and think about the dangers afterwards.’

It was Sergeant Tostevin’s ninth commendation in 23 years as a police officer.

    Nice
Whilst I am quite factually the biggest critic against the Police. I do not wish to take anything away from these officers. You deserve your commendations. I feel that it is high time that people start to appreciate that we all need to pull in the same direction! Maybe we will start to go in a direction that we are all happy with? Any criminal critics are most welcome? I will welcome your comments!
