STEVE CRAM has been named as the guest speaker for the 2008 Guernsey Sporting Achievement Awards.

The Guernsey Sports Commission also announced that Carey Olsen had signed a three-year deal to sponsor the annual presentation evening.

The next event is taking place on Wednesday 14 January at Beau Sejour.

Cram will present the 12 awards to Guernsey’s leading sportsmen and women who have put in outstanding performances during the course of this year.

‘It is through the sponsorship from Carey Olsen that we have been able to secure a speaker of Steve Cram’s calibre and we are incredibly grateful for their support,’ said the chairman of the GSC, Stuart Falla.

Along with fellow GB athletes, Sebastian Coe and Steve Ovett, Cram was one of the world’s dominant middle distance runners during the 1980s.
