Guernsey 12, Guildford 15
GUERNSEY will undoubtedly look at this as two points dropped in a most extraordinary game at Foote’s Lane.
Visitors Guildford played with outrageous abandon at times as passes were thrown without even a cursory glance for a teammate beforehand and over-the-shoulder offloads came thick and fast, whether a man in blue was in the vicinity or not.
It made for some extremely entertaining, if not high-quality, rugby that kept most of the crowd amused throughout.
Among them, however, was a not-so-happy newcomer to the stand.
The talismanic James Regnard, Guernsey’s big No. 8, was a vocal spectator as he sat with his broken-and-plated lower left leg encased by a splint and crutches laid by his side.
