GUERNSEY did the double over Jersey at the weekend.

Both the Guernsey under-17s and U-15s took care of their Jersey counterparts in high-scoring matches, much to the delight of the island’s new development manager, Ben Allberry.

‘I’m happy we won the U-15s and U-17s and good hockey was played,’ he said. ‘My aim is [for us] to play good, fun, attacking hockey and the scorelines show that we did.’

The U-15s took their game 6-4 while the U-17s won theirs 3-2.

The U-17s twice had to come back from a goal down.

Charlie Wilkes-Green and Guy Craze got the equalisers before Adam Clark, with seven minutes left on the clock, kept his nerve at a penalty flick to give the Greens’ victory.

‘To come back twice showed good character,’ said Allberry.
