Environment holds key to North plans

NORTH are looking to expand Northfield.
The chocolate-and-blues have had a bid accepted by the owners of the land next to their ground off the Grand Fort Road.
Known as Les Effards Vinery, the land has been cleared of its old greenhouses and has been levelled off.
According to North president Dave Finn, they are waiting for permission from the Environment Department to convert it into playing facilities before any money changes hands.
‘Hopefully it will go through and I’d like to see it go through in my time [as president],’ said Finn. ‘It’s a major development. We’ve got the funds and we’re all ready to go.
‘We’re pretty confident and the owners have been good enough to hold on.’
Finn says there is enough land for two to three football pitches.
