THREE Guernsey teams failed in their bid to stop RWB from claiming their seventh straight Channel Islands Women’s Club Championship title.
Local outfits Legis Independents, AP Panthers and Redbridge Vixens all travelled to Jersey at the weekend and it was Panthers who got the furthest as they made it to the semi-finals.
But coming up against a physical RWB side, which contained a number of Jersey island players, Panthers, who were missing some key members, came undone 7-1.
RWB then went on to beat Jersey Ladies in the final. ‘It was a young and inexperienced side but we played very well,’ said Panthers captain on the day Justine Whalley.
‘They are just a big squad and play a different style of hockey from what we do [in Guernsey]. They are very physical and have a lot of talented players.
‘We were pleased to get as far as we did.’
