Group wants to see disability discrimination act introduced
Wednesday 26th November 2008, 2:29PM GMT.
MEMBERS of Guernsey Disability Alliance will stage a protest outside the Royal Court today as States members leave the budget debate.
The alliance will hand out flyers asking for the deputies’ help in bringing down the barriers those with disabilities face in their everyday lives.
Their ultimate aim is to see the introduction of a disability discrimination law in Guernsey and to raise awareness of the needs of disabled people.
They want to improve access in the areas of education and employment and highlight the gap in support and services.
The chairman of the alliance, Rob Platts (pictured), said disabled people and their families helped elect the deputies, so they would remind them of that, as well as ask for their support.
‘It’s the barriers that society creates that make people disabled, not their impairments, and Guernsey has far more barriers than many other parts of the world.’

I have no arguement with the above at all!
How can we expect any change when our elected wishes to shield racists exactly?
If any one of us wishes for change then we need to change those as well as others and things which offend us.
Stand up and make some noise then. If not then ask yourselves what kind of democracy do you and we live in exactly? Are you affraid? I’m not at all! My biggest fear is within our elected fools!
My message to our fools that are living it up at our expense. Your days are numbered! Also your wealth will be checked out with a fine toothedcombe. We aren’t being stifled at your leisure ay longer. Most have lost far too much allready actually. Now we wish to see how you look whilst enjoying your own medicine!
We have all been robbed for your own endevours! How will you like some of the same!!! This is still a question but will quickly beccome a demand cos we are are being taxed and not listened to by those that think they know better? Do they? For their own endevours most definately. For us mere tax payers definately not! This Island disgraces us by the minute!
How do we feel about the future then? With these fools none at all actually!!

Just a massive shame that I am the first and actually the second person to comment on a minority group?
How disgusting will we allow ourselves to become exactly?
Our disgusting elected will still live it up though! How about all of us making changes then? We are being taxed for their own luxuries.
Do I wish to be happy to see those in power cruising past me in a gin palace whilst I have been made to adopt a dinghy at their leisure?
No doubt I would be made to wish, and expected, to satisfy myself with being swamped with their wake whilst witnessing their pleasures and laughs.
I will be paying for their lifestyles, as well as most of you?
They have taken the P*** for far too long. Do one! Vote of no confidence? Where does this lead us to exactly? Nowhere just like our so called democracy.
In a lap of luxury which you have became far to use to at our expense. Actually we have taken our hands out of our pockets. If you wish to question where our wallets are then they are secure thanks. Go and make your own money for a change! We can’t afford to finance fools any longer!
We all wish to protect our own interests. You are the suckers for thinking we are actually? LATERS!
We all need to look out for ourselves cheers.
