Rejection fears grow

Former island coach Steve Ogier is in the frame to take the same role with the new team.
‘GUERNSEY UNITED’ could be left with nowhere to play as it becomes increasingly likely the Bulmer’s Cider Kent Football League will turn its back on them.
The plan is for the proposed Guernsey club to join the Kent Premier League from next season, but it appears all it takes is for one existing club there to quash the new club’s dreams.
Even if ‘Guernsey United’ gets approval from the FA League Committee, its application to join the Kent competition will be put before the league’s member clubs at their AGM in June.
The clubs have to be 100% behind the proposal for it to come about and the views are varied, as Kent on Sunday sports writer David Pritchard, who wrote a story on the subject, explained: ‘To get it through they all have to vote for it unanimously at the AGM but there is a split in opinion,’ he said.
‘You need only one of them to be against it.’
