FIVE talented and excited champions were crowned at the last event of the Ipes Mini Tennis Autumn Series at the Guernsey Tennis Club.
The series involved 32 competitors from all the island’s clubs and they were split into three groups playing either full (green), three-quarter (orange) or small court (red) tennis dependent on age and ability.
All the groups met over four dates during the term and competitors were awarded points both for turning up consistently and for good results.
‘The aim was to provide a positive competitive experience for all the young players and so it proved to be,’ said organiser Jo Robinson.
‘The young players all improved tactically but, just as importantly, have begun to understand that there is only one thing worse than losing and that is not competing.’
Max Galins and Milly Wood emerged as the green-ball champions, Don Harty was the orange-ball one and George Galins and Millie Forino the red-ball champions.
