THE Grammar School crushed Elizabeth College by 53 points this week to retain the Year 10 schools’ basketball league.
Playing on their home court, Grammar defeated College 64-11. Dave Legg’s side were unbeaten in the competition.
‘I’m delighted to win league,’ said Legg, who is head of PE at Grammar. ‘[Against College] I was pleased with our defence. That’s what we’ve done all season – we’ve defended.
‘They’ve trained hard as well, which is good.’
Last week, Grammar overcame La Mare de Carteret by just two points.
They were not going to let it be as close again as they set their stall out early against College to be up 17-2 by the end of the first quarter.
They totally shut their opponents out in the second as they found themselves 36-2 up by half time and 50-5 by the start of the fourth.
