BERNIE PRICE surprised himself when he came third in the inaugural Thundersport GB Streetfighter Class Championship.
‘I didn’t expect to get third,’ said the 44-year-old Guernseyman who when not racing motorbikes is a tiler.
‘It’s the best I’ve ever done result-wise.’
Price took up motorbike racing in 2000 with the ambition of competing in the Isle of Man GP. After acquiring his racing licence, he fulfilled his dream in 2005 but had not ridden competitively again until this season.
‘That was my goal and since I did that, that was it. But I wanted to get back so I got some money together,’ he said.
‘It was like a gap in my life [not racing]. When I did it again, I felt fulfilled.
‘It was good to get out and do it again. I very much enjoyed it.’
