North 5, Rangers 2
NORTH leaped to the top of Division One yesterday when they crushed Rangers in the first 25 minutes at a soggy Northfield.
Four goals came in that period from the home side after which there was no way back for Rangers. The match had been put back 24 hours because on Saturday the pitch was considered too damp to play on.
‘This could be have been a banana skin for us, but we killed the game in the first half,’ said North coach Mick Le Prevost.
‘I’m very pleased with the result and with the team’s performance. They all did well.’
The result sees Le Prevost’s side go to 22 points and leapfrog reigning champions Bels, who have 20. Le Prevost is now eying up the league title that they last won in the 2006-07 season.
