Watson the eighth seed in Florida

HEATHER WATSON has had to put the disappointment of losing the final of the Eddie Herr behind her quickly as she plays in the first round of the Dunlop Orange Bowl today.
The 16-year-old Guernsey star had performed brilliantly to make it to the final where she came up against Lauren Embree.
Unfortunately for the Sarnian (pictured) , the American who had not lost a set all tournament was in inspired form as she won 6-0, 6-1.
It seemed to be a match too far for Watson. ‘I made a lot of errors and she was a very consistent player,’ said Watson. ‘I was tired, but she played very well today.’
But it was not all bad news for Watson whose ranking jumped from 34 to 24.
She was also the recipient of the tournament’s Glenn Feldman sportsmanship award.
