THE Junior Endurance Squad had a very successful first outing to the UK on Saturday.
Nine athletes travelled to Overton for a Hampshire League meeting and achieved seven top 10 finishes. The best result of the day came from Sarah Mercier, who finished sixth in the senior women’s race, but second under-20 junior.
George Mason also posted a top-three finish, leading the under-13 boys to second team with a fine run in third place. The other members of the team were Tomos Ap Sion (ninth) and Alex Stewart (15th).
Sam Hall had a fine run in the under-15 boys, showing a welcome return to form just five weeks before the county championships to finish ninth, with Luke Bisson 13th.
The revelation of the day was Claire Heaume, who ran a superb race to finish sixth in the under-13 girls race, with Elise Bisson 26th out of the 43 finishers.
