ISLANDERS have been taking advantage of troubled store Woolworths this week as it reduced stock by 50% on most items.

Many shoppers have been buying Christmas presents, stocking up their cupboards or just buying some items for fun.

Students from Elizabeth Collage purchased some unusual pieces for their common room yesterday.

Items included a bag of sand, a Bratz trampoline, some hair straighteners, an Incredible Hulk costume, two tins of paint, two light sabres, a doughnut maker and, of course, a bag of pic’n’mix.

‘We’re are making the most of the bargains,’ said student Jordan Griffin, 16. ‘We are planning on coming back for more later if the shop isn’t empty. It’s a great opportunity.’

Having grown up with the UK chain, all of the students will miss the shop when it closes.‘I am quite sad,’ said student James Jurkiewicz, 17.

‘We are wondering what will go in there next.’
