LEAGUE leaders Cenkos Yobbos suffered a wobble on Saturday when, without their best two players, they lost to Investec Colombians Vets.
At a wet and dreary Memorial Field, Yobbos, who were missing the league’s top scorer, Ben Allberry, and island captain Andy Whalley, were up against a second-from-bottom Vets side inspired by TJ Ozanne.
The mercurial striker bagged himself a hat-trick as Yobbos’ suffered their first defeat this season.
‘Vets took their chances very well and TJ scored two very good goals from the top of the D,’ said Yobbos’ captain, Steve Queripel. ‘We had plenty of short corners, but we didn’t convert them. Before the game we were six points clear and we’re at the halfway stage in the league, so we’ve got to be happy where we are.
‘People are going to say we’re not a team without our superstars, but we proved them wrong today. We gave Vets a very good game of hockey. I’m disappointed to lose but I thoroughly enjoyed the game.’
