0689789.jpgSTUART LE NOURY (pictured) was the fastest walker up Le Val des Terres for the third consecutive year when he raced up the hill in 4min. 43sec., a 19sec. improvement on his previous best time.

Brother Jason in second place also broke five minutes for the first time as he clocked 4-55. Only two seconds separated third and fourth, with Phil Lockwood recording a personal best 5-18, slightly faster than Terry Bates.

Walkers are set off at two-minute intervals so it is a time trial against the clock.

The women’s result was a close affair with the top three within four seconds of each other. Experienced walker Jayne Le Noury took the shield by one second from Jane Rowlinson, who was tackling the hill for the first time.

Le Noury’s winning time was 6-50, with third-placed Rose Druckes finishing in 6-54.

The event was sponsored by Cherry Godfrey, Woodlock Financial Services and Healthspan Group.

The next walk is on Sunday 4 January over a distance of five kilometres.

It begins at 9.30am, with the start and finish at Quayside, North Side. Details can be obtained from Jayne Le Noury on 246865.Sarnia Walking Club: Annual hill climb sees several personal bests
