Big two to work closely together
Wednesday 17th December 2008, 2:29PM GMT.
GUERNSEY’S two mainstream motorsport clubs are to work more closely than before.
‘We’re not at war at all,’ said Bill Cohu (pictured), the new man at the top of the Guernsey Motorcycle and Car Club.
The GMC&CC and Kart & Motor Club now have key personnel on the rival committees and Cohu believes it makes sense to work together.
‘We are going to share more and more on the equipment level,’ he said, a point hammered home by Cohu’s new number two, Marc Maubec. ‘The more we can do working together and share will help down bring the expense,’ said the man who Cohu hopes will, before too long, step up into the lead role.
A large percentage of established riders and drivers are members of both clubs and the links have been strengthened in the committee room.
Peter Jory is Cohu’s opposite number at the GK&MC while also holding a committee position at the GMC&CC.
Scott Rayson, vice-president of the GK&MC, is also among the GMC&CC decision makers, as is Roger King.
