THE Ambulance and Rescue Service has dropped the bill it sent to fire rescue hero Dominic Canty-Forrest (pictured).

He was sent the £160 charge for his journey to hospital by ambulance after saving two people from the flat above the Sitar restaurant in Vauvert in October.

He also received a bill for £128 from the Rohais Medical Centre for treatment at the hospital. That has been halved.

Yesterday, the ambulance service announced that it would be ‘waiving the charge’. A spokesman said it was replying to a letter from Mr Canty-Forrest in which he had asked them to ‘forego the fee’.

‘We can confirm that on this occasion, as a gesture of goodwill and as Mr Canty-Forrest suffered assisting others, the service will be waiving the charge.’

Mr Canty-Forrest said that he felt the ambulance service had done the right thing. ‘I hope the Rohais Health Centre will be generous enough to follow suit,’ he said.

Neither The Ambulance Service nor the Rohais Health Centre should have charged Mr Canty-Forrest in the first place.
    Their actions were disgraceful.

If he had an Ambulance subscription then he wouldnt have been sent a bill. Personally I think he should pay the bill.

Moxey if u race into a burning building to save people then u shouldnt have to worry bout the financial implications.

If he hadnt tried to help he wouldnt have had a bill. Do you want every member of the public checking their finances and bank statements prior to saving someones life???

ive had dealings with dr parkin before.

he makes excuses for the medical board and refuses to refund money for poor service so heaven forbid he refund this poor mans medical treatment charges after a heroic action

i would hope that we’d all act the same when faced with an emergency and the matter of saving lives. It shouldnt come down to finance, bills or expense.

if i was this man id refute the charges to the point of court. If people are going to be financially penalised for saving lives then less people will and surely thats a terrible thing. No good minded conscientious citizen would stand by and watch people die becoz they are scared of the financial implications and the fact they cant afford it

Moxey…that’s the Christmas spirit…good for you!

If you were lying incapable of movement because of smoke inhalation, and a potential rescuer said “Sorry mate, I’d love to rescue you, but I can’t afford the possibility of getting a medical and ambulance bill…sorry old son, I’m sure you understand”, would you give a benign smile and say “Fully understand, just leave me here to die”

I knew Scrroge was alive and well somewhere…and Moxey is living proof.

To read the above is fine news!

How about showing this fine man some recognition rather than charging him for services that he has rendered to others then?

As an Island we seem to be so loved up with money that we ignore the bigger picture!

If this man saved any family member of mine he would be worth everything. He has done his bit to save people and must be acknoledged for his fine efforts surely?

What has money got to do with heroism exactly?

Message to Dominic Canty-Forrest. You are a fine GEEZER.

We all need to sit up and do our bits. Surely!
