Trebert victorious in Exeter – twice

EMILY TREBERT (pictured) has emphasised her undoubted potential with some outstanding successes in England.
Just a few days after competing in the Senior Island Championships, Trebert, 14, travelled to Exeter University in Devon to take part in the Badminton England Bronze Junior Tournament Circuit entering both the under-15 and U-17 age groups.
Playing in unfamiliar surroundings can be one of the biggest tests for Guernsey players, but in the U-15 age group she immediately rose to the challenge and came away the victor in both singles and girls’ doubles, partnering Stephanie Potton from Dorset.
Her success in the singles was even more remarkable considering that she won her semi-final 21-18 against a player from Surrey who is ranked 100 places above her.
She followed that success with a steady and mature performance in the final, winning 21-18.
