St Martin’s 0, Rangers 2
RANGERS eventually got what they thoroughly deserved on Saturday at Blanche Pierre Lane.

For a while it looked as if the goal their efforts had merited would never materialise, especially when poor Jonny Veron, who had been the game’s best player up until that point, missed an open goal early in the second half.

Fortunately, he could smile about it afterwards because his replacement Matt Bailey did find the net 10 minutes from time before Piers Ockleford wrapped up the three points with an absolute screamer.

St Martin’s, on the other hand, were hugely disappointing.

It is hard to know whether Tom Le Tissier would have been pleased that he had very little to do because Guernsey manager Tony Vance was in attendance and the visiting goalkeeper, who is back from university for Christmas along with composed defender Arrian Green, would have been looking to impress ahead of the Island Games.

But the hosts did not trouble him, so the best he could do was show off his distribution skills.
