GUERNSEY ATHLETICS have stated that they ‘currently’ have no plans to pay players.
Last month, the member clubs of the Guernsey Football Association issued a media release with a list of 11 questions for the new club that intends to play in the UK non-league structure, possibly the Kent League.
The board and management of Guernsey Athletics, were not in a position to respond to those points initially, but having affiliated to the GFA since, they feel they can now offer some answers.
The top question from the clubs was whether they were going to pay footballers to turn out for them. Rumours have been circulating that they were going to do so.
The clubs pointed out that if they were, they would possibly contravene rules for the Muratti and the FA National League Systems Cup.
In response to this question, Guernsey Athletic: ‘There are no plans currently to contract Guernsey Athletics players.’
The GFA clubs’ questions ranged from whether players who commit to Guernsey Athletics realise that they might possibly miss island matches like the Muratti and training to Guernsey Athletics’ intentions with the development of football on the island.
