Sylvans 0, St Martin’s 0
BILL and Ben were reunited in the bitter cold of St Peter’s on Saturday afternoon, but Saints fans were again left disappointed by two more points dropped.

Billy Page’s debut in St Martin’s colours was promising enough, but his reunion with former Belgrave player Ben Coulter was not enough to spark the much-needed Saints win to revive their hopes of at least a top-three finish.

That the black-and-whites failed to win had much to do with the excellence of the Sylvans defence, superbly marshalled by Tom Strawbridge.

He was top-notch throughout, but there again, everyone around him did a fine job.

Saints had the best of the scoring chances but in truth this was a day when the conditions dominated.

The narrow confines of Sylvans’ home grounds never make it easy in today’s frenetic modern game of compressing the opposition and when a stiff wind as cold as this one blows it makes flowing football that degree harder.
