Back where he belongs: Leighton Chainey was spared an appearance in goal and took up his normal berth at the heart of the Bels’ defence.
Division One’s top two clubs will meet in next weekend’s big Crimestoppers Guernsey FA Cup tie.
As expected, North comfortably saw off Rovers in their second round encounter on Saturday at Port Soif to set up a visit to the Track.
Meanwhile, Bels cemented their place behind the chocolate-and-blues in the top flight of the Sure Senior County League having come through their dangerous visit to St Andrew’s with a 2-0 win.
Two goals within a minute – from Scott Bradford and Simon Marley – in the final quarter of the match saw off Rangers, who could have climbed into second themselves with a victory.
‘It was a good, battling performance,’ said Bels coach Micky Ogier. ‘This is not an easy place to come, but we were the ones creating chances.
‘It was frustrating for a while, but we always thought we would get the breakthrough and it turned into two quick goals.
