GUERNSEY’S Adams store is trading as normal despite reports that it is set to go into administration.

Le Lievre’s runs the children’s clothing shop at Checkers superstore as a franchise. ‘I have spoken to Adams and that is what they have told me,’ said the company’s Philip Le Lievre

‘There is no doom and gloom at the moment.’

Mr Le Lievre said that the retailer would continue to send stock to Guernsey. ‘It’s quite a strong company and there are lots of businesses under a group umbrella. I would expect that they will restructure and then carry on.’

The Adams chain, which has 500 outlets in the UK, has become one of the most recent victims of the economic downturn.

A creditor filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators on Christmas Eve. That expires on Friday.

The creditor nominatedPriceWaterHouseCoopers as administrator, but it has not been appointed formally.
