FUN was had by all at a competitive afternoon at Beau Sejour on Sunday 21 December when the Guernsey Triathlon Club held its Christmas Aquathlon event.
Thirty competitors first swam in Beau Sejour pool, followed by a swift run around Cambridge Park hoping to be splash and dash winners.
The 13 juniors all started with a 200m swim. First to exit the pool was Luke Winberg, but just a second behind was Oliver Nightingale. Close behind in third was leading girl CeeJay Merrien.
During the 1km run, places in the chasing pack were constantly changing, but nobody could catch Winberg, who eventually increased his lead to seven seconds.
Nightingale maintained second place despite a strong run by his brother Tom, who took third.
Merrien won the junior girls race, just holding off Katie Rowe who had a fantastic run, but was still nine seconds adrift at the finish. Joanna Stapley was third.
