ERICA BODMAN’S transformation from high-jumping to a rower of Olympic potential, gathers pace.

Bodman, 21 later this month, has followed up her national student indoor title with another personal best on the Concept2 indoor rowing machine and won a call-up into the Great Britain under-23 training camp, which heads to Nantes for a 10-day stint in January.

‘We did a 2k test while I was in Bath recently and I got a PB of 7min. 12.2sec. – five seconds quicker than my time at the British Indoor Rowing Championships six weeks earlier.’

She is ‘hugely excited’ about joining up with the GB under-23s and also the prospect of moving to Bath full-time in June.

‘The Bath World Class Start Centre has arguably the strongest group of girls in the country, so that will really help me to develop.

‘I stayed in the house of three other ‘WCS’ girls and have made arrangements to move in permanently with them in June when I make the move over to Bath.
