Smart money on Bels
Monday 5th January 2009, 2:30PM GMT.
BELS have been installed as favourites for the Crimestoppers Guernsey FA Cup following their 3-1 quarter-final win over North.
However, Micky Ogier admitted that beating the Division One leaders and cup holders on Saturday at the Track would mean nothing if they do not lift the trophy themselves.
‘We were favourites last year, but it is all on the day and if you take your chances,’ said the Bels coach.
His side did just that against North in the early evening game.
They were given a first-minute lead from the penalty spot by Simon Marley and after Craig Young had equalised, goals from Scott Bradford and AJ Saunders deservedly put Bels into the semi-finals.
‘It was a good game but we were the better side and we created a lot of chances,’ Ogier said.
