THE local branch of the Harley Owners’ Group is under threat because the brand’s only island dealership is no longer trading.
Church Road Motors in St Sampson’s closed for undisclosed reasons.
The man behind the company, Rick Lowe, declined to comment other than to confirm it was closed.
Salesman Peter de la Haye confirmed that he was no longer working for the company but he, too, did not want to comment further.
Church Road Motors operates the only Harley Davidson dealership in the island, as well the Van Centre. Vehicles were still on site yesterday.
The local Harley Owners Group chapter said it had not been told anything.
‘We are just a bit disappointed that it’s gone,’ said director Tim Prevel. ‘Whether it’s gone completely, nobody knows. A few members have phoned us up worried because they bought new motorcycles from there.
‘I know that it’s not a problem because other dealerships can fix them under warranty, but if they do break down they still won’t have a bike to use.’
