Businesses fear traffic mayhem
Thursday 15th January 2009, 2:29PM GMT.
BUSINESSES on the Castle Emplacement could be adversely affected by nearby road works.
Seafresh Fishmongers manager Pete Shrive said both the lack of parking at the South Esplanade and the temporary one-way system were a concern.
His business is based on the emplacement, where parking will be suspended from Monday.
‘It will definitely be a problem for customers,’ he said.
Mr Shrive said that trade was quiet at this time of year anyway and that confusing or restricted access to his business could only make things worse.
Director of Channel Insurance Brokers Ltd, Alex Lindsay (pictured), said that if the work was necessary, then it must go ahead.
‘But I would have thought it will cause absolute mayhem,’ he said, adding that it would be inconvenient for customers calling in to his offices.

Voice For Victims
Voice for Victims is a campaign aimed at promoting the rights of those affected by child sexual abuse.
Suggestion for the States: To increase the use of public transport, perhaps force commuters to use the buses, however inconvenient, simply by removing all long term parking…. Oh, wait, they seem to be doing that already.
