Golden girls top GIAAC medal haul
Thursday 15th January 2009, 2:29PM GMT.
THE GIAAC had a great day out at the Hampshire County Cross-Country Championships at Dibden Inclosure in the New Forest.
The best race was the senior women’s, which saw a fine individual win for Louise Perrio (pictured), with Martine Scholes picking up individual bronze, as well as gold in the veteran 35 category.
They were backed by another fine run from Katrina Thomson in seventh.
However, it was not the senior women who produced the best overall team performance of the day, but the FirstRand Junior Endurance Squad under-13 team.
Perhaps the most surprising result of the day was a remarkable individual victory from Katie Rowe.
At just 11 years old, she still has another two years in this age-group, but still romped home to a very relaxed-looking win.
She also led the team of Claire Heaume, Kristina Neves and Megan Chapple to team gold.
