GUERNSEY Water could soon consolidate all its services in a move to its main base at St Andrew’s Reservoir.

The company currently has offices in Town and St Saviour’s.

According to director of water services Andrew Redhead having a single site would reduce costs.

‘We already have some operations at St Andrew’s,’ he said.

‘However, we still have offices at St Saviour’s and in Town and if we have one facility it will help reduce the costs of heating and cleaning. We need to make sure that we streamline our business and this depot would do that.’

It is estimated that about 80 workers would use the site.

The plans for the new building are currently being considered. The site would need be cleared of abandoned items before any building took place.

If all goes to plan, Guernsey Water hopes to start construction next year.

Is that it Mr Redhead? A brand new depot and all you can do is reeduce the heating and cleaning bills? Gee whizz, still acting like the civil service.
