THE Guernsey Judo Club fear they could go the same way as the Guernsey Gymnastics Club.

In 2002, members of the island’s sole gymnastics club were left with nowhere to go when the premises they used at Admiral Park were sold for redevelopment.

The Guernsey Judo Club are based at the Guernsey Youth Services on Brock Road and they face a similar problem as the Services are relocating to St Peter Port School where they cannot be catered for.

‘We could end up like the gym club,’ said the chairman of the GJC, Mitch Agnelli. ‘We’re desperately looking for a new home.’

The situation is particularly upsetting for the more than 40 children who train regularly at the club every Saturday afternoon.

Agnelli has spoken to various church halls and other places that could potentially house them. They have looked at one specific hall but, as he has pointed out, the issue lies with where to store their mats.
