Bogdan is too strong for Watson

0619416.jpgHEATHER WATSON has been knocked out in the quarter-finals of the Optus Nottinghill Junior ITF International in Australia.

The Sarnian star, who was seeded five, suffered a 6-3, 6-2 defeat at the hands of number two seed Elena Bogdan of Romania in the event at Nottinghill Tennis Club, Glen Waverley, Victoria.

Fellow Briton Laura Robson, the Junior Wimbledon Champion, was also knocked out in the last eight stage, beaten 7-5 in the deciding set by Dutch girl Richel Hogenkamp.

Watson now heads for the Australian Open Junior Championships.
