‘States should play by its own planning rules and hold an inquiry’

0706971.jpgTHE States should abide by the rules it sets for others, says the dean of St Peter’s douzaine.

Martin Ozanne (pictured) said that even just meeting new CAA requirements for Runway End Safety Areas would impact heavily on the parish.

With no spare level land to the east, the Resa at that end could be created only by moving the runway further into St Peter’s.

‘Moving the runway towards the west and intimating that it’s not a runway extension is incorrect as far as this parish is concerned,’ said Mr Ozanne.

‘Planning inquiries and environmental impact assessments are held for many other proposed sites and the States should abide by that, too.’

Public Services chief officer Adrian Lewis and airport director Colin Le Ray this week gave a presentation to the douzaine based on the department’s December States report.
