Skipper returns to take on Tots
Friday 23rd January 2009, 2:30PM GMT.
SIMON SHARROTT is determined to make up for lost time when he returns to lead Guernsey tomorrow.
The GRUFC first team captain (pictured) has not played since early December due to suspension and holiday, but will play a vital role as his side visit Tottonians attempting to build momentum following their recent victory over KCS Old Boys.
‘As with any rugby game, it will be won and lost in the forwards,’ Sharrott said.
‘We know Tots have always got an imposing forwards pack – as a result I will be asking for a big performance from the Guernsey tight five,’ added the man who is a member of that group as loose-head prop.
Whereas Foote’s Lane was in perfect condition for the win over KCS Old Boys two weeks ago, the other scheduled London Three South-West fixtures in England were all postponed due to frozen pitches.
Sharrott hopes that might be an advantage to his men as they look to avoid a repeat of the 8-6 defeat they suffered at home to Tottonians in November when the weather conditions were atrocious.
