CHANCERS have emulated their success of 2007.

They took the HSBC trophy and £1,000 first prize at the conclusion of the final round robin game in the 2009 HSBC Guernsey Open Bowls Tournament, beating the nucleus of the 2008 Hit Men winning side in that game.

Matt Le Ber’s Chancers team came into the last game unbeaten throughout the tournament and in the final series had beaten Islanders by the odd shot at 18-17 and Rebels with a more emphatic 36-10 margin.

They faced Shake ‘N’ Bake in the final game with Craig Dorey’s side also being unbeaten in the final round robin series having beaten Rebels 28-17 and Islanders 23-11.

The winners of this match would walk away with the top prize. So there was all to play for as Neal Mollet, Lucy Beere, Gary Pitschou and Le Ber took on Sean Bichard, Will Ceillam, Todd Priaulx and Dorey in a battle eagerly anticipated by the large crowd of spectators.
