Le Mont Saint Fiat 52, Island Under-21s 64
THE Island Under-21s have again proved that they are serious title contenders.
At Beau Sejour last week they took care of Le Mont Saint Fiat by 12 points.
In previous years the juniors have been seen as something of a pushover for the other teams in the basketball league, but that has certainly not been the case this season.
Led by explosive point guard Jason Hooper, who was part of the senior Guernsey side who went to the Rhodes Island Games in 2007, the team is littered with a number of seriously good players such as Scott Rowe, Aaron Walden, Aivars Pilmanis and Dan Marriott.
They have now racked up three victories and find themselves second in the table behind Fiat’s stablemates, Le Mont Saint.
Coach Adam Farish believes they are one of the best U-21 sides he has worked with.
Their big match of the year is on Saturday 27 March when they face Jersey.
