The championship chase headed by Guernsey and Leeds Ladies went down to the very last set of the last match in Bristol, but Morgan held firm to snatch a 3-3 draw for the Sarnians, enough to pip Leeds by a point.

‘I’m elated,’ said team captain Kay Chivers.

‘We worked really well as a team. It was a really good team effort,’ she added.

Guernsey came into the match heading the table by a point and wins over St Andrew’s (4-2), Woolwell (5-1), Southampton West (5-1) and Staff Ladies (6-0) put them in the position where they would take the title with a draw against Leeds.
