Issey Norman-Ross on her way to a narrow victory over Natalie Dodd.
FIVE-SET thrillers were the order of the day as spectators witnessed some of the tightest squash matches of the season at Beau Sejour on Sunday at the climax of the Ogier Senior Island Championships.
First on court were Issey Norman-Ross and Natalie Dodd playing for the women’s title having both comfortably made it through to the final.
Fifteen-year-old Norman-Ross is currently ranked 17 in the U-17 England rankings and Dodd (now 17) is ranked 15th in the U-19s.
Unsure of Norman-Ross’s fitness and sharpness, Dodd was hopeful for a victory but making a slow start and her opponent took the first game 11-9.
In the second, Dodd began to turn things around.
Both girls were moving well around the court, showing some good touches and tight drops closing the gap between them.
However, Dodd’s efforts were not quite enough as her younger opponent took the game.

Ross Kneller / Ben Rosec, though biased as a relative of Ross Kneller, I do like to keep cuttings of his matches. We are friends with the coach in uk and he started Ross on his way with squash,Ross was for a long time under David’s wing, so it is nice to keep snippets of matches of this calibre, but nothing seemed to be written about this match. If you have any written article I would like to read it if that’s possible so perhaps you could let me know if there is one and I will download it.
I appreciate there are lots of things to cover but we do enjoy catching up with various matches especially of players we have got to know socially in Yorkshire and UK squads not always being able to come and watch them play when in Guernsey.
Thank you
