ATHER WATSON has emphasised the importance of her support during her impressive run of wins at the Australian Junior Open.
The 16-year-old, accompanied by her mother Michelle, telephoned her father in Guernsey overnight after her second round win and was thrilled to hear his encouraging words from home.
‘Dad always says he’s my number one supporter and he told me he’s proud of me,’ Watson said.
‘My mum’s looking after me in Australia and making sure I’m healthy and eating properly.
‘I’ve got a lot of support, so I’m very lucky.’
Watson’s favourite meal of salmon and pasta was on the menu for that night’s evening meal.
‘I love salmon with rice or salmon with pasta and I’m going to have the pasta tonight to give me energy,’ she said.
