MATT JENNINGS must feel life is like a broken record at times.
The island’s premier boxer was supposed to top the bill for the Amalgamated Boys Club in their dinner boxing showdown with North East London Select at St Pierre Park Hotel on Friday night.
But the 31-year-old cruiserweight’s opponent, Robbie Russell, came in under-weight and the bout was scrapped.
Local fans have lost count of the number of times over the last few years that Jennings has had fights called off right at the last minute and he was clearly a despondent man after his latest let down.
‘I’m just gutted,’ he said.
‘I’ve been training hard and I’m in good shape. At least the fitness is up for the Beau Sejour Show.
‘I know it can be difficult to match me and [Guernsey coach] Graham Guilbert does his best, but that’s the trouble we’ve got coming from Guernsey.’
