OPERATIONS scheduled at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital this morning have been cancelled.
The decision was prompted by the prospect of further snow. ‘All patients affected have been contacted and their operations re-arranged,’ said a Health and Social Services spokesman.
Afternoon operations are due to go ahead, following a review this morning. Two minor operations were cancelled yesterday, along with most X-ray appointments.
But all other operations went ahead. The spokesman said that the hospital had adequate staff cover but appointments had been postponed to save patients having to travel.
‘The HSSD would like to thank all staff who managed to get into work today or stayed on late or swapped their shifts, all of which enabled us to maintain our services.’
