Recruitment, not redundancy is the message from BDO
Tuesday 3rd February 2009, 2:30PM GMT.
A LOCAL accountancy firm has bucked the national trend for making people redundant by recruiting more staff.
Richard Searle (pictured), managing director of BDO Novus Ltd, said that despite the economic difficulties experienced by many companies in the finance sector both worldwide and locally, his firm was going from strength to strength.
‘We are part of the BDO International network, but here in Guernsey we are separately owned and managed,’ he said.
‘We’ve experienced significant growth in the last three or four years. We have had a variety of new, good quality clients coming in to complement our existing strong client local and international base.’
From his point of view, the economic outlook for finance in Guernsey was good.
‘Guernsey’s in a strong place. Obviously, there’s a lot of uncertainty in the world at the moment, but Guernsey is resilient and I am confident that as an island we have what it takes to respond well to challenges,’ he said.
