Wednesday 4th February 2009, 2:29PM GMT.
A NEW air link between Guernsey and Plymouth will help tourism, according to the director of marketing and tourism.
Air Southwest is starting a service on four days a week from 8 April with tickets costing from £39 one-way.
‘We intend to run this is as a year-round service, like our Jersey service,’ said deputy chief executive Mike Coombes.
‘We are now all geared up and we are looking forward to starting. We are very pleased with the co-operation we have had from the Commerce and Employment Department and Guernsey Airport.’
It operates 50-seater Dash 8 aircraft and is expecting a third of travellers using the service will be doing so on business.
A further third will be using it for short breaks and holidays, and the final third will be visiting friends and family.
‘Guernsey is the perfect destination for a short-break or family holidays and for those wanting to experience an island paradise without high eurozone exchange rates there has never been a better time to travel,’ said Mr Coombes.
