RIDERS moving up a class ensured that there were plenty of changes for the first motocross meeting of 2009.

Fortunately the rain held off for the Guernsey Kart & Motor Club event at Pleinmont, the track was well prepared beforehand and the whole day went through with only one incident for the ambulance staff to take a brief look at.

There were several alterations in the junior classes from last year with many riders moving up to the next class and some moving to adult classes along with a number of new riders who have joined recently and a good turnout from Jersey.

Riley King again swept the board in his third year in the autos class followed by Jersey’s Adam Godwin, who has been riding motocross for only eight months, while Louie Tostevin posted third after having a short break from racing.

Jordan Palmeri claimed the holeshot in the first two races in the 65 class, but was unable to stop a dominant Louie Waddingham from charging through to take all three wins.

George Bates showed a good turn of speed in the last race of the day, which was slightly longer than usual.
