RYAN TIPPETT gave a second-half lesson in finishing at St Peter’s on Saturday that Sylvans’ youngsters would do well to learn from.

The four-goal margin of defeat was harsh on the youthful hosts in a highly entertaining game with both sides deserving a lot of credit for their efforts on a soft but remarkably good pitch.

However, it is all about converting your chances and it was Saints who did so.

The visitors were given a flying start with a second-minute goal taken straight from Stoke City’s textbook.

Chris Mauger took on the Rory Delap role with a throw directly into the Sylvans six-yard box, which Dominic Heaume flicked on and Billy Page turned in.

Despite that early setback, Sylvans matched up well to their more experienced opponents in the remainder of the opening period and had several decent chances to get back on level terms, only to waste them.
